Keraflo’s Fire Valves First Ever to Achieve LPCB Accreditation
Keraflo’s innovative Fire Valves have become the first ever to receive important accreditation from the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), a division of the Building Research Establishment (BRE). This significant endorsement highlights the exceptional standards and build quality of Keraflo's products, setting a new benchmark for the performance of fire safety in commercial buildings.
The path to LPCB accreditation requires products to undergo stringent and rigorous testing to ensure they meet the highest safety and performance standards. Keraflo’s Fire Valves have been subjected to these exacting tests, demonstrating their robust design, reliability and efficiency in critical fire safety applications.
Highlighting Keraflo’s commitment to unrivalled quality and assurance, the rigorous BRE testing process has enabled the Fire Valve range to boast an unprecedented 10-year warranty. This is 10 times the industry standard and provides unparalleled peace of mind.
The integration of LPS 2083 into the LPS 1276 standard now offers clarity and removes all ambiguity and represents a critical step forward in enhancing fire protection and ensuring the safety of occupants in commercial and public buildings.

Cistermiser Helps a London Hotel to Reduce Water Usage by a Seismic 84%
This globally recognised hotel had identified a need to reduce their water consumption within a specific area of the hotel, the men’s urinal communal washroom. The existing 10x aged urinals had no form of attenuation on them, resulting in frequent flushing throughout the day.
The Cistermiser Direct Flush Discreet (DFD) urinal valve had been identified as the optimum solution, as they have been specifically engineered to ensure both water and energy efficiencies are maximised, while offering an attractive 8-month payback. The Cistermiser infrared sensor-controlled DFD is an automatic mains-flushing valve that is activated once the urinal is used which ensures the highest level of hygiene is achieved from using minimal volumes of water.
To help the hotel realise the full benefits of the DFD sensor solution, an initial trial methodology of the solution was arranged. This allowed for an unbiased water saving analysis to be presented, as well as comparative data of the new sensor solution against the existing urinal system.
The hotel has been delighted with the incredible 84% water-savings, which were achieved, as it not only reduced their water usage on a seismic scale but also significantly reduced their carbon footprint.
Keraflo Installs Tanktronic at Prestigious Government Site
A prestigious government site in the South of England which spans 2,500 acres, and consists of 160 separate buildings, is currently served by approximately 1,500-2,000 cold-water storage tanks across the complete site. The site continually suffered from biofilms forming on the surface of the tanks, which can quickly develop into an ideal breeding environment for waterborne bacteria, the site approached Keraflo for their expert advice.
A Tanktronic field trial was commissioned, to fully demonstrate the true capabilities of Tanktronic. The site particularly favoured the idea of utilising the calendar function, so they could drop the water level weekly if required to ensure the water in the tank was completely turned over when occupancy was low. Immediately after Tanktronic was installed and commissioned, the biofilm completely disappeared.
The successful installation gave the site the confidence that the water in the tank was continually turned over, to avoid stagnation, it also provided intelligence on the condition of the water. The site now adopts a policy to only clean and chlorinate “when alerted” in addition to adopting the annual clean and chlorinate best practice.
Talon Transforms: New MRP/ERP System, Key Hires, and Innovations
Talon is currently undergoing a transformational period of continuous improvement, with many projects already in progress. Most significantly we are in the process of implementing a new MRP/ERP (Material Requirements Planning and Enterprise Resource Planning) system in our organisation, which will provide the foundation for our growth plans.
This initiative necessitates a comprehensive review of all our core processes to ensure their suitability for our demanding and evolving customers.
Additionally, we have recently enhanced our team by welcoming Steve Monger as our Finance Director, and George Jones as the Supply Chain Manager.
We take pride in announcing and congratulating our most recent Davidson Award Winners: Patrick Guest, our Central Regional Manager; Jade O'Connell, our Marketing Executive; Debbie Mann, a valuable member of our packing team; and Laurence Tatnell, our Production and Engineering Manager.
We are also pleased to introduce our latest product, the Black Link Spacer, which is compatible with our Hinged Clip Range.
Salamander Pumps unveils new water boosting solution - TankBoost
Salamander Pumps, part of Davidson Holdings, has launched a brand new product, TankBoost - an easy to install, single unit solution to ensure water performance remains at optimum levels even in large, multi-storey homes.
The first product in the Salamander Pumps product range to deliver flow rates beyond 36 L/min, TankBoost will ensure powerful showers, strong flowing taps, and quick toilet cistern replenishment, even when they are being used at the same time, in combi or unvented systems.
TankBoost will deliver flow rates up to 80L/min and pressures up to 3.0 Bar, ideal for even the busiest homes. The latest product in the expanding MainsBooster range combines a cold-water storage tank and an integral pump. The high-quality stainless-steel pump is submerged within the tank, meaning that the water boosting solution is extremely quiet throughout operation.
Gareth added: “Our newest water boosting solution will give even the busiest of properties more than enough boosted water supply.”
Where a property has particularly high water demand, and space is not an issue, tanks can be linked with additional storage units to increase capacity.
CAT5 variants are also available as part of the range, and the product comes with a two-year warranty.

Trickling tap troubles? Salamander Pumps announces new TapBoost pump
At Davidson Holdings we value and support innovative new product development and continuous improvement, and drive a culture that delivers this for the group. In April 2022 Salamander Pumps successfully launched TapBoost, a cost-effective solution to boost the performance of a single outlet.
Boosting flow to between 7 and 11 litres per minute depending on incoming flow, TapBoost provides an easy solution for when a slow-flowing kitchen tap means the kettle takes an age to fill. The pump can be fitted at multiple locations around the house, including bathroom and kitchen sinks, bath taps, garden taps, toilet cisterns, dishwashers, and washing machines.
TapBoost is incredibly quiet, easy to install and can be installed in either mains-fed or gravity-fed systems.
