Our People

We are a privately owned business which values the loyalty and commitment of our people. We are delighted to have exceptionally low rates of staff turnover and invest in the training of our people at all levels – from sponsoring them on MBAs and other business training courses to apprenticeships and more specific job-centric training.  We have colleagues who have started in supervisory and shop-floor positions now running functions.  We recognise that by nourishing our employees we make their lives and our businesses better.

The Davidson Award

In 2018 Davidson introduced the Davidson Award to recognise outstanding contributions made by our colleagues within each of its businesses. The directors of each Davidson business nominate those of their colleagues who they believe are worthy of the award; each of these receives a financial reward. The Davidson directors then choose the winner on each site who is sent, with their family, on a “bucket list” experience of their own choosing at the group’s expense.

Having worked at Salamander Pumps since 1991, I have seen the business grow to what it is today. The company is serious about investing in its people and plant, with considerable investments being made to match the company’s outstanding performance. I recently won the Davidson Award, recognising my outstanding contribution to the company, showing that the company really cares about their employees.

I joined Salamander Pumps nearly 5 years ago fresh out of university as Marketing Administrator. Throughout my time here I’ve been given ample opportunities to grow and develop, progressing to Marketing Executive in the process. People are at the heart of Salamander Pumps, we’ve got a great team who are supportive, friendly, and incredibly hard working. This is key to what makes Salamander Pumps so successful.

Our Sales office here in Woodley, Reading is always a busy place with orders being placed over the phone, on the website or via EDI.  I really enjoy leading and encouraging my team and our goal is to deliver the highest levels of customer service at all times. People do business with people, so we provide helpful advice and assistance over the phone with a friendly and supportive approach. A key departmental focus is on-the-job training, to ensure our technical knowledge of products old and new is always bang up to date.

Our products are in demand up and down the country and it is essential that we strive for continuous improvement in production and logistics processes, to ensure we always deliver to meet our customers’ exact requirements. We are proud to fly the flag for British product manufacturing, with a highly efficient, flexible and skilled production team operating under Quality Management Systems certified to ISO.9001:2015. I have been at Cistermiser since 1994; since Davidson acquired the business in 2004, investment has accelerated and sales on the site have increased by over two and a half times. It’s been a lot of fun.

I joined Salamander Pumps in 2010 training in Bedford as a Technical Support Advisor. Within 12 Months I was promoted to Technical Supervisor. Salamander has supported me every step of the way, actively listening to my opinions and challenging me to achieve my potential! I left my current role as Customer Experience Manager in June 2022 to take on the challenges in my current role as Training Manager. Working with a great team and feeling valued within the business is something I feel Salamander do extremely well

I joined Salamander Pumps in 2012, starting as Office and Marketing manager and progressing to Head of Customer Experience and Marketing. I find it a great place to work, it is big enough to have exciting projects and an exciting future but small enough to still have that supportive family feel where you can make a difference. The Company has also been fantastic in supporting my development within my career including the achievement of several qualifications.

My journey at Salamander Pumps began in 2019 when I started my role as a Business Development Manager. I really enjoy working as part of the Sales Team as I like being out on the road and liaising with different branches across the North of England and Scotland. I often take part in trade events where I can speak with installers and merchants from different parts of the country and give them new updates on all things Salamander.

I started at Salamander Pumps as an apprentice, I chose this route as it was an opportunity to learn with a more hands-on approach. I really enjoyed this as it gave me the opportunity to be involved in different departments and taught me the value of workplace experience. The Company has since supported me with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and I work as part of the engineering team.

Joined Talon in 2015 as a production shift technician helping Talon manufacturer over 175 million pipe clips and fittings every year. ‘It’s great to be part of a growing business and whilst growth brings it challenges, I enjoy working with and training new people to ensure we deliver the best quality products to our customers’.

I started in the packing area at Talon in July 2016 and, then became operations assistant before moving into the warehouse around 4 years ago.  Because we have been so busy in the last 1-2 years, I often get the chance to help out in the different departments and really enjoy working with everyone at Talon. I also enjoy helping train new recruits and watching them progress within the business.

I joined Talon in Oct 2020 and work in our Sales office that’s situated at our manufacturing site in Kent. I really enjoy the interaction with other departments and fact that rarely two days are the same at Talon. The office team handle around 80 orders on a daily basis and my role also includes responsibility for our 12 export customers located in Europe and Africa.

I joined Cistermiser / Keraflo in October 2022 as a Quality Engineer. Entering a new sector and a new team is always daunting, however the team at Woodley have made me feel welcome, enabling me to settle into my role very quickly. The team are always willing to explain process, which is highly appreciated. My role day to day is varied, I am responsible for ensuring all our applications for WRAS approvals are submitted, ensuring the external audits for our management systems ISO 9001 & 14001 are conducted, and audits from the BRE are undertaken for our certified valves. I am also responsible for conducting internal audits with the help of the wider team as well as auditing all of our external suppliers. I’ve recently taken on additional responsibility for reporting our packaging waste and handling IT infrastructure. Being able to expand my role serves to keep it varied and interesting, every day is different, and I’m delighted that I joined the team.
